Brett Wigdortz OBE led Teach First from its launch in July 2002. He has helped build the UK’s leading movement to tackle education inequality and one of country’s most successful charities.
Brett is Co-Founder and Trustee of Teach For All, which now operates in over 45 countries.
Brett was awarded an OBE in the 2013 Queen’s New Year’s Honours list for Services to Education and has won numerous awards over the past 15 years, including Charity Times UK Charity CEO of the Year, Ernst & Young UK Social Entrepreneur of the Year, Debrett's 500 Most Influential in the UK, and the Evening Standards' 1,000 Most Influential Londoners. In autumn 2017, he was named as a Grant Thornton Face of a Vibrant Economy.
In 2012, Brett sat on the Department of Education Teacher Standards Review Board and his book Success Against the Odds, a candid account of the first ten years of Teach First was named WHSmith’s Business Book of the month.
In October 2017 Brett stepped down as CEO of Teach First to take on the role of Honorary President. He co-founded tiney.co, a for-profit social enterprise in March 2017 to improve early years opportunities.
