[New York, New York – April 7, 2025] – Founders Pledge, a global nonprofit empowering entrepreneurs to do the most good possible with their charitable giving, today announced that it has been awarded a significant grant from Open Philanthropy totalling $4 million, designated for general operating support over the next two years (2025 and 2026).

This substantial support from Open Philanthropy will be instrumental in strengthening Founders Pledge's core operations and advancing its mission to empower entrepreneurs to do immense good.

"Open Philanthropy has supported our work since 2016, and this multi-year grant demonstrates our shared aim to make high-impact giving the norm," said David Goldberg, Co-Founder and CEO of Founders Pledge. "This funding affirms the strength of our model: for every dollar invested in our operations last year, we unlocked $26 in total charitable giving from our members, of which $16 was donated to our highest-impact opportunities. With this support, we can expand our reach and help more entrepreneurs direct resources to where they can do the most good possible.”

Founders Pledge's unique approach - as a nonprofit which charges no membership fee -means that funding from foundations, corporates and its members is vital to effectively facilitate a growing movement of high-impact philanthropy.

This support enables us to act as a proven impact multiplier, connecting our research expertise, powerful network, and member resources to drive significant change.

NOTES TO EDITORS:

Founders Pledge’s data demonstrates its powerful leverage achieved by investing in its operations over the past 10 years:

  • Across our first decade (2015-2024), every $1 received for operations unlocked $7 granted to our high-impact recommendations and $35 moved to the charitable sector overall.
  • In 2024 alone, for every $1 Founders Pledge received for its operations, our community directed $16 to rigorously vetted high-impact funding opportunities, and $26 moved to the charitable sector overall.
  • In the first two weeks of 2025, we moved more money to charity than in our first six years.

This track record underscores the value of investing in our operational support. This $4 million grant will enable Founders Pledge to continue to provide the research, counsel, and infrastructure necessary for our members to deploy substantial resources effectively, achieving philanthropic impact that far exceeds the direct investment in our organization.

Founders Pledge would like to acknowledge and thank the grantmaker, Open Philanthropy.
