Bio

Ben is an applied researcher who comes from a background in clinical medicine in Aotearoa New Zealand, where he worked briefly as a junior doctor. He joins Founders Pledge having completed postgraduate study in evidence-based public policy at the University of Oxford. Ben enjoys hiking, reading and generally trying to make the most of life in the Northern Hemisphere.

Q: If you could choose anyone famous (real or fictional) to have dinner with who would they be and why?

My Nana, for her unconditional love and leftovers

Q: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Like at least a few of my colleagues, a paleontologist

Q: If a movie was made of your life what genre would it be, who would play you?

I'm not sure about genre, but it would have to include a moment where the main character is in trouble, and asks for help. The audience is led to believe no-one is coming, and then, at the last minute, everyone the character has ever known shows up to help (think Avengers Endgame). As for who would play me, there is only one answer, New Zealander - Sam Neil.
